NEW ORLEANS —
Voters in the New Orleans area passed fantasy sports betting.
Now voters want to know when they will be able to bet on sites like Fan Duel and Draft Kings.
Sen. Danny Martiny said he expects fantasy sports gaming to be legal by June or August.
Fantasy sports gamers create teams, pay a fee and can win money based on how well the players picked do in games.
Lawmakers will go back into session in April.
Martiny said that’s when they will decide how the generated funds will be used.
State Rep. Kirk Talbot said he estimates fantasy sports gambling could bring in about $1 million annually in tax revenue.
